The Current Grand Forks City Council –

Christine was born in Princeton, B.C. and lived her first 7 years in Copper Mountain where her Dad worked for Granby Mining. When Copper Mountain closed in 1957, her family moved to Grand Forks where her Dad was instrumental in re-opening the Phoenix Copper mine. Christine graduated from Grand Forks Secondary School, and moved to Vancouver to attend Vancouver Vocational School (as it was called then) and worked for a short time before she realized “City Life” was not for her. She moved home and worked for the Grand Forks Gazette (when Stan Orris was the owner and editor); then for several accounting firms including Kemp, Harvey Burch Keintz; and finally for the City of Grand Forks, ending her career as Treasurer.

Christine has been married for 43 years to her husband, Brian, and raised two children in Grand Forks. Christine has always been active in the community having served six years as a member of the Hardy View Lodge Board of Directors; thirteen years as a Director of the Grand Forks District Savings Credit Union; and, three years on the Board of the Grand Forks Fall Fair Society. Christine is currently in her seventh year as a member of The Phoenix Foundation of the Boundary Communities, four of them as Council’s liaison to the Board. She was privileged to serve her first term as a Councillor from 2008 to 2011, and subsequent terms from 2014-present.
