Building Inspections & Bylaw Services

The Building Inspection department is responsible for the full range of tasks associated with the City of Grand Forks Building Bylaw, including but not limited to issuing building and plumbing permits, performing building and plumbing inspections, assisting developers and property owners with their construction concepts, and working closely with all other municipal departments.

The Bylaw Enforcement department supports and reinforces community standards set out within the City’s regulatory bylaws in accordance with the City’s bylaw enforcement policies. The department also works to liaise with the City’s unhoused population to monitor use of public areas and support access to services where possible. Bylaw Services supports and works with other city departments and external agencies as an active partner in promoting and maintaining community safety and contributing to effective City operations.
