Grand Forks Fire Rescue is seeking dedicated individuals who are ready to serve their community as Paid-On-Call (POC) Firefighters.

Our members respond to emergencies, train regularly, and uphold a high standard of professionalism both on and off duty. This role requires commitment, reliability, and the ability to perform in challenging environments — but it also offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference when it matters most.

Junior Firefighter Program

Grand Forks Fire Rescue is proud to offer a Junior Firefighter Program designed for motivated young individuals who are interested in learning about the fire service and serving their community.

The program provides structured exposure to:

  • Fireground fundamentals

  • Teamwork and discipline

  • Fire service culture and expectations

Junior members train alongside senior firefighters in a controlled and progressive environment. The focus is on learning, mentorship, and building a strong foundation for those who may wish to pursue a future career in the fire service.

The Junior Program serves as a developmental pathway toward full Paid-On-Call membership. Participation does not guarantee future employment, but it provides valuable experience and a clear understanding of the commitment required.

The Junior Firefighter Program has limited positions. Not all applicants will be accepted. Selection is based on maturity, commitment, suitability, and the department’s ability to provide proper mentorship and supervision.
